HistoryTHE BEGINNING. In 1994, technology strategist, James Harris, and seasoned creative communicator, Rick Anwyl, then CEO and President of Executive Arts, Inc. (EAI), launched Elemental Interactive to serve the interactive communications needs of IBM, The Coca-Cola Company, and other EAI clients. As the web became a viable and popular platform for business communications, Elemental’s success and client base skyrocketed. We incorporated in 1995 and continued to provide web-based strategy, design, and development to IBM, Compaq (now HP), UPS, Pfizer, VF Corporation, and Turner Network Television, among others.
THE DOT-COM ERA. In 1999, the height of the dot-com era, Grey Global Group (Grey), a top communications company worldwide, acquired Elemental. James Harris continued to lead our firm and diversify our client base, adding technology industry leaders such as Macromedia (now Adobe), Adaptec, and Avaya. Two years later, Grey partnered Elemental with GCI Group, a global public relations agency, to extend interactive service offerings to GCI Group clients. The next two years, we worked under the name GCI Interactive and produced award-winning interactive communications solutions for Cingular Wireless, Holiday Inn, and others. Yet we tired of corporate red tape and longed to return to our roots.
TODAY. In 2003, James Harris and long-time partner Stephanie Roberts bought back Elemental Interactive, and we became one of the largest certified minority-owned interactive communications firms in the Southeast USA. We created a sister company, ListenShare, to expand our client relationships and interactive communications expertise to include social media and digital video and audio podcasting. We are continuously evolving our business to meet our client needs and to exploit the latest technologies.

ApproachElemental is an interactive communications firm with a unique focus on corporate storytelling. Founded in 1994, we have extensive experience working with some of the world's most influential brands. We know what it takes to craft creative experiences online that connect your business more closely with your customers and stakeholders.
We believe that you have a story that needs to be told. Stories touch us on an honest, emotional level in a way that glossy brochures and slick copy do not. We work with you to uncover, create, and share these stories. We craft them as web sites, intranets, animations, blogs, and video and audio podcasts. And we publish and promote your stories via your web presence, social networks, online media directories, and mobile devices.
